Strength Training for Summer

I always find myself changing up the routine in the summer and now that it’s June, I’ve settled into a new schedule. Saturday mornings are now my day of strength training with Travis Holley and fellow Relentless coach, Megan Parsons. Here’s a video of part of our strength wod from last weekend.
I realize not everyone has access to “strongman” equipment like tires, logs and atlas stones, but here are some simple exercises everyone can incorporate in a strength routine…
- 10—>1 push/pull series: 10 push-ups, 10 pull-ups, 9 diamond push-ups, 9 bent-over rows with a kb, 8 kb push press, etc… Get creative on your push/pull! You can do pull-ups with a towel on a sturdy tree branch or using some rings, incline or handstand push-ups, or renegade row with a dumbbell.
- 1 min squat/lunges: 15 seconds squats, 15 seconds lunges, 15 seconds jumping squats, 15 seconds jumping lunges. Try that for 3 rounds!
- 10 lunges/10 push-ups for length of a football field. Meg programmed this into a track wod we recently did. Try 1 round, set of sprints in between, and another round same distance!
